  • Can children/youth attend?

Yes, but they must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times. Parents/guardians are especially required to monitor younger children to ensure they are not running across the dance floor, blocking dancers' path during each Lab session.

  • Will there be Djembe Dance & Drum?

As the name suggests, our conference specialty is SABAR, with hints of Serer, Koutiro, Serouba, and Wango. Artforms specific to Wolof and Serer ethnic groups of Senegal / the Senegambia region, where drum is played with hand and stick, and dances are high-energy and almost aerodyamic in nature.

**NOTE: SabarEDU community cultural activations and pre-Conference activities incorprate our specialty Sabar vs. Djembe Labs. These intensives reinforce and compare sabar traditions with those of diverse ethnic groups of Senegal, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, and Mali.
